Adobe to acquire Macromedia
Published 3 years, 7 months ago in Life, New Media
Adobe and Macromedia are merging together to create a much more powerful interactive environment.
“The combination of Adobe and Macromedia will provide customers a more powerful set of solutions for creating, managing and delivering compelling content and experiences across multiple operating systems, devices and media. Together, the two companies will meet a wider set of customer needs and have a significantly greater opportunity to grow into new markets, particularly in the mobile and enterprise segments.”

That merger has the potentital to totally slow down the progress of their products, but if all goes well, we’ll see some cool stuff come out of these guys.
Awesome comment, I agree. Just reading about 8 Ball I think that this merger is old news. There are a lot of things going on with macromedia and the development of flash that is going to change the interactive world as we know it. 8 Ball is implementing dynamic AS effects. Lets just hope that we don’t let this all get to our heads like back when Flash first came out. ( we all wanted to make a ball bounce. blaaaaa)
I’m all for Adobe and Macromedia merging. The only thing that worries me is Macromedia playing with Photoshop. Photoshop is the God of imaging software and it makes me nervous that Macromedia (which has inferior image software compared to Adobe) will begin to have anything to do with it. I say this being a professional/obsessed photographer that really can’t get around without Photoshop. It makes so many things so much easier. And handles RAW images beautifully, and frankly I don’t want Macromedia to apply Fireworks (I think) to Photoshop, it just won’t work. Photoshop has gone through years of refining and is very close to perfect, a good chunk of minor bugs, but nothing you can’t use the other features of Photoshop to quickly fix.
Grant read these two articles.
